I want to address and emphasize the growing crisis in elder care, exacerbated by the pandemic. There has been a significant number of staff have quit due to burnout, low pay, and lack of advancement opportunities. This crisis is set against the backdrop of an aging American population and a shortage of caregivers. This is placing more and more pressure on the family caregiver.

 The broader issues facing the caregiving sector in the U.S., includes a  a fragmented system that often leaves the elderly and disabled without adequate support.The physical and emotional toll of caregiving, both on family members and professional caregivers is becoming insurmountable.  The goal of this article is to create a greater awareness and systemic support for caregivers, reflecting on the societal neglect of this critical but often invisible workforce.

As the U.S. faces a looming caregiver shortage, with predictions of a significant increase in the elderly population requiring care the urgent need for  to address  the direct care worker shortage. This is going to put more pressure and burden on the family caregiver. 

The United States is currently grappling with a severe shortage of direct care worker, or caregivers. This is causing a crisis profoundly impacting our aging population. As the need for in-home aides grows, many older adults find themselves without the essential care they require. It is my goal to raise public awareness about the caregiver crisis and to rally support for the Caregiver Relief Family Caregiver and Direct Care Workers petition.

This petition underscores the urgent need to address the challenges and obstacles faced by caregivers. It highlights the necessity for systemic changes to support those who provide critical care to our elderly population.
