Vassar's Board of Trustees is funding the construction of the Inn & Institute, which they do not plan on making carbon neutral. In order to follow through on the 2016 Climate Action Plan, which committed Vassar to carbon neutrality by 2030, the college cannot afford to construct a building that contributes to campus emissions. In order for this project to be carbon neutral, the planning committee and Board of Trustees must promise 100% renewable energy and combustion free heating in the I&I. It is much more expensive to retrofit this building for carbon neutrality after construction than to build it with net zero emissions from the outset. 

I stand with Vassar Climate Action Coalition in demanding that the Inn and Institute be carbon neutral.
