Capcom Europe: Please launch Phoenix Wright : Dual Destinies in Europe in physical support
El problema
Attn: the dedicated team of Capcom Europe,
First of all, and as a big fan of video games since many time ago, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you so many years enjoying some of the biggest and best sagas of electronic entertainment for which you are directly responsible: Street Fighter, Megaman, Resident Evil and Phoenix Wright are true hits of entertainment without whose existence millions of fans could not conceive this branch of digital entertainment. Therefore, Capcom, heartfelt thanks.
This is precisely one of these modern classics, the Phoenix Wrigh: Ace Attorney saga (Gyakuten Saiban in their original language), which I have decided to contact you on behalf of a really active and dedicated community: the Ace Attorney fans living in Europe.
Many of us were surprised one day when we discovered this wonderful series of research and logic to fall irresistibly captivated by his brilliant blend of solid plot, colorful characters, humor and memorable situations. The rookie lawyer Phoenix Wright and his now iconic “Objection!” are part of the history of video games, and thanks to its two outstanding sequels a new generation of players became addicted to a genre that so far had not found a representative height (criminal investigation) adding a new subgenre impeccably implemented in a unique blend of humor, suspense, puzzles and drama. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney and Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth were received with enthusiasm by the growing community of Ace Attorney european fans, hooked to a saga that at first glance seemed to have no future beyond Japan.
The reality, fortunately, is quite different. Ace Attorney is one of the most beloved sagas in the old continent, and there are hundreds of fans who cosplay as their favorite characters in fan conventions in many countries (Spain, i.e). Phoenix Wright cosplayers are a very active community in Europe.
The recent announcement that the upcoming Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies will come to Europe in the autumn of 2013 has left the community of loyal fans a clearly bittersweet taste. On the one hand, it is worth celebrating the anticipated new installment of the franchise out of Japan. But on the other, the decision to not release this fifth installment of the saga in a physical format in Europe due to commercial factors (which, I have no doubt have been well weighed and valued by Capcom), has disappointed fans all eager to enjoy the full experience adding to his shelf of titles this Dual Destinies. While understandable from a business perspective, the digital download significantly reduces the experience for the harcore gamer, eager to “touch” the product, and we believe that the community of potential buyers of this new release is more abundant than is believed. After many years of loyalty to this great saga, we reckon that that European Phoenix fans deserve to purchase the game in its physical form, as well as the digital. Phoenix Wright european community is so loyal and dedicated that we consider that they deserve to have the choice of selecting a digital or physical purchase.
Therefore, humbly and with the best will we ask Capcom Europe to reconsider its strategy and please provide to the European public the launch of Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies in both physical and digital format.
Millions of fans of the exceptional work done by Capcom will be eternally grateful.
Best regards and thank you very much for your attention,
