Petitioning Canonsburg Borough Council

Revisit the Restriction of the Placement of Parade Chairs

We the residents of Canonsburg Borough and local communities in the surrounding areas of Canonsburg are petitioning for Canonsburg Borough Council to revisit and revise the restriction of the parade chairs placement to 6 a.m. the Fourth of July.

We the residents of Canonsburg Borough and local communities in the surrounding areas of Canonsburg understand the need for public safety, but we would like to see the chair tradition carried on as well. We the residents of Canonsburg Borough and local communities in the surrounding areas of Canonsburg would like to see a compromise made to allow the chair placing tradition to continue safely. With that in mind, we the residents of Canonsburg Borough and local communities in the surrounding areas of Canonsburg would like Canonsburg Borough Council to revise the placement of the chairs to be either 24 hours or 48 hours prior to the start of the parade with safety restrictions (the item placed must be a chair, no ropes, no chains, and no caution tape).

With public safety as a concern, we  residents of Canonsburg Borough and local communities in the surrounding areas of Canonsburg would also like the council to consider the chaos that could potentially happen at 6:00AM on the morning of July 4th if thousands of eager citizens will be trying to get a spot at the same time.

The placing of chairs prior to the parade gains positive news media for Canonsburg. This parade is something that Canonsburg is very proud of and excited for each year. We the residents of Canonsburg Borough and local communities in the surrounding areas of Canonsburg are proud that Canonsburg has an annual parade that so many people want to reserve their spot for.

I just signed the following petition addressed to: Canonsburg Borough Council.

Revisit the restriction of the placement of parade chairs.

We are petitioning to get Canonsburg Borough Council to revisit and revise the restriction of the placement of parade chairs to 6 a.m. the Fourth of July.

We are all for public safety, but would like to see the chair tradition carried on as well. We would like to see a compromise made to allow the chair placing tradition to continue safely. We would like council to possibly discuss the placement of the chairs 24-48 hours prior to the parade with safety restrictions (no rope, no caution tape, and the item placed must be a chair (no milk crates, etc)).

The placing of chairs prior to the parade gains positive news media for our town. The parade is something the town is proud about and excited for. We should be proud that our town has an annual parade that people want to reserve their spot for.
