#AskForAndrew

40 percent of gay men and 47 percent of bisexual men have experienced sexual violence other than rape, compared to 21 percent of heterosexual men.
#AskForAndrew is a going to be a similar campaign to 'Ask for Angela', yet is going to be specifically targeted towards LGBT clubs and bars. There is a cultural acceptance among gay men notably that this sort of behavior is acceptable.
It's not.
The aim of #AskForAndrew is to give the LGBT+ community a safe way of letting others know that they feel they are in danger or have just been sexually assaulted without drawing attention to themselves, in order to get the help and support they need from bar staff. They can do this simply by 'Asking for Andrew' letting staff know through the use of this safe word system, similar to Ask for Angela.
Let's start talking more, let's get this archaic behavior out of our clubs and out of our community.
We want Manchester clubs and pubs along Canal Street to embrace this cause and to do more for victims of sexual assault, together we can make a difference.
