Justice for Colten Boushie

Justice for Colten Boushie
The Issue
On August 9 2016, 22 year-old Colten Boushie, a Nēhiyaw/Cree of Red Pheasant First Nation, was shot and killed on a farm property near Biggar, Saskatchewan.
The incident has drawn national attention to the longstanding crisis of racism against Indigenous peoples in rural Saskatchewan and beyond, and has stirred immense controversy and racial tension. The Boushie family needs your help.

To: Hon. Gordon Wyant, Q.C., Minister of Justice and Attorney General, and Bob Paulson, Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Position Statement: We, the Indigenous citizens of the Battlefords, Treaty No. Six, and throughout Canada, together with members of non-Indigenous community, petition the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice ("Ministry") to appoint a prosecutor from outside the Province of Saskatchewan to prosecute the matter of R v Gerald Stanley. We further petition the RCMP to appoint investigators from outside the Province of Saskatchewan to head the investigation into the matter of R v Gerald Stanley.
The Ministry and the RCMP have lost our trust. We believe that, unless an outside prosecutor and investigator are installed, the Inherent rights to health, peace and good will as promised in Treaty No. Six will be irrevocably compromised. In order for our trust in the Ministry and the RCMP to be restored, a comprehensive investigation and rigorous prosecution must occur on the R v Gerald Stanley matter.
We demand that the Ministry appoint a prosecutor from outside Saskatchewan to prosecute R v Gerald Stanley, and that the RCMP appoints a lead investigator from outside Saskatchewan to investigate R v Gerald Stanley. This is the only way to satisfy the public interest of getting at the truth in R v Gerald Stanley.
