Joy Tomkinson had her service dog Joel removed from her home and retired due to his aversion to high-pitched noises. This was discovered when a smoke detector went off in Joy's home. The Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (CGDB) deemed that Joel 'posed a safety concern' to Joy and removed him from service, subsequently retiring him. Since Joel is no longer eligible to be a service dog, Joy has campaigned to adopt him with no cooperation from the CGDB. Please read the full story in the link below.
