As we approach 30,000 supporters, this petition has grown far beyond my wildest expectation of 10,000 signatures.  It appears that the signatures from the first 3 days of the campaign were virtually all from professional income tax preparers but that we have now reached many individuals who prepare their own income tax return.  This has always been a non-partisan appeal to the CRA to provide relief for tax preparers that are clearly overwhelmed with the burden of working in the middle of a pandemic while meeting so many additional needs of their clients on issues like wage subsidies.  We appreciate that it is difficult for the CRA to work under similar lock-down conditions but this does not change the fact that many accountants are waiting on the phone lines for hours at a time or have been locked out of the client's CRA on-line account.  Many accountants who have been working from home must now deal with providing child care to their children who can no longer attend schools that have recently closed.  Please continue to not only share this petition with your fellow tax preparers but please post comments about why it is difficult for you to meet your client's tax filing deadlines.  Thanks for your support and please take care.
