Dear Supporters,

Thank you all for standing with us in the "Can Confusion Awareness Campaign." Your support has brought this issue further than we ever imagined — and we’re excited to share some major progress with you.

Thanks to your incredible support, our youth leaders brought the message of Can Confusion all the way to Albany’s Capitol Hill—and it made an impact! We’re thrilled to share that New York State Assemblyman Phil Steck and Senator Nathalia Fernandez have officially introduced bills to tackle Can Confusion head-on. Their proposed legislation calls for a statewide mandate requiring at least 5 feet of separation between alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in stores with liquor licenses!

The bill numbers are a8647 & s8112. If you'd like, you can track the progress of the Bills here.

This is a considerable step toward meaningful change in our community. We will continue conducting community-based research and uplifting local voices to educate our lawmakers about the challenges Harlem faces—from Can Confusion and beyond!

If you're passionate about Can Confusion, we’d love to see you at our next door-hanger dissemination event on July 15th! Join us in spreading awareness right here in Harlem.

With gratitude,

The S.A.F.E. in Harlem Coalition
