West Hampstead Community started this petition to Camden Council

We, the undersigned, petition Camden Council not to give a licence to Pines and Needles to trade on Fortune Green.

Pines and Needles trading on Fortune Green will run in direct competition with Mill Lane Garden Centre, part of charity The Camden Society.

Mill Lane Garden Centre is an amazing social enterprise.  Christmas is their busiest time of year and profits from the sales of Christmas trees is invested into training and job opportunities for local people with disabilities.

Last Christmas, Camden Council allowed Pines and Needles to rent a pitch on Fortune Green, trading less than 400 metres away from Mill Lane Garden Centre. Camden Council is currently considering their application to return again this year. The return of Pines and Needles to trade on Fortune Green will have a detrimental impact on Mill Lane Garden Centre.

Apparently, Camden charged Pines and Needles £4,500 for a pitch on Fortune Green last year. They stayed 42 days, that's £107 a day. How can it be commercially worth it to Camden to let a seasonal commercial trade & potentially put a local charity out of business?

Unless the local community support MLGC we could lose it from our community.
