Dear supporters,
Thank you for your work to encourage an open Sacramento Field.
Thanks in part to your signatures and thoughtful comments, members of the Sacramento Street Community Garden have graciously approved the design of an access path along the east side of the garden, with an expansion of the north side of the garden to replace plots lost to the path.
Please be sure to thank members of the garden if you see them.
The park renovation project has been delayed, however, by a group of 15 neighborhood residents, acting through the Agassiz Neighborhood Council, who have prevailed upon Acting City Manager Lisa Peterson to postpone construction bids from October, as initially planned, until December 1 to allow for further discussions about lighting, and the materials to be used for a loop path around the field.
To voice your support for a start to construction as soon as possible after December 1st, and opposition to further delays, please click here to sign our new Free Sacramento Field! petition: https://www.change.org/p/free-sacramento-field
Please also consider attending a public meeting to discuss the field renovations this Wednesday 11/9 at 7:00 PM in the cafeteria of the Maria L. Baldwin School at 85 Oxford Street.
Thank you again for your support for this important project to open public land more widely to public use.
