Dear City Councilors,

We write to oppose APP 2018 #351 filed by Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. - we deplore Alexandria’s intent to force the city to allow a Bio Tower in exchange for a small plot of land for the Grand Junction Pathway.  

Alexandria’s petition threatens the character of our neighborhood and proposes a tower that is too tall and too close to a residential area.  We oppose any proposal that increases the current zoning to allow a taller building with more density on the corner of Fulkerson and Binney Streets. Granting Alexandria’s petition would amount to spot zoning and create a precedent for other towers on the border of residential neighborhoods across the city.

We support the Grand Junction Pathway, but it should not be tied to Alexandria building an oversized tower in our backyards. The city has the resources and means to execute this without Alexandria’s intervention. 

We respectfully request that you vote against granting Alexandria’s petition.
