Formal Presentation of Community Petition – Over 2,000 Signatures – A52 Nottinghamshire
Dear National Highways Team,
I am writing to formally present a community petition which has now attracted over 2,000 signatures from residents and members of the public concerned about the ongoing disruption caused by the A52 roadworks in Nottinghamshire.
The petition is available to view and support here:
As the petition is hosted online, the live link provides access to the current number of signatures and the concerns raised by members of the public. I am currently awaiting the platform’s facility to download the full signature record, which I will forward separately once available.
As a local councillor representing Edwalton and , I have been contacted by numerous residents Rom Edwalton and in Rushcliffe who are increasingly frustrated by the prolonged lane closures, significant congestion and the wider impact these works are having on our communities.
The petition represents more than 2,000 voices calling for urgent action, greater transparency and a fundamental review of the way these works are being managed.
I am therefore requesting:
1. Formal acknowledgement of the petition.
2. An urgent review of the current traffic management arrangements and methods of operation.
3. Consideration of suspending non-essential works and lane restrictions while alternative approaches are reviewed.
4. A clear explanation of the rationale behind the current arrangements and anticipated timescales for completion.
5. A meeting with senior National Highways representatives and local councillors to discuss the concerns and identify meaningful solutions.
I would ask that this correspondence is escalated to the Regional Director for the East Midlands and the senior management team responsible for the A52 scheme.
The people who have signed this petition are residents, commuters and road users whose daily lives are being affected. They deserve transparency, accountability and evidence that their concerns are being taken seriously.
I look forward to your acknowledgement and a substantive response.
Kind regards,
Cllr Hetvi Parekh
I will keep you all updated.
