We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support of Evie’s Bark, Evie's Bark Petition and Evie’s Legacy. Your support to help change the law to help ensure the safety and recognition of our pets means so much to us.
Evie’s Bark petition will be closing on 20th May 2025 at 12pm,
On 22nd May 2025, the petition will be presented to the Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory by Mr Andrew Mackay MLA. This is a huge step forward for Evie’s Legacy to make positive changes and your support has helped us gather awareness about Evie's Bark.
We’ve had productive conversations with the Animal Welfare Branch and Minister Gerard Maley MLA about the importance of regulation for pet boarding industry and animal welfare.
In our ongoing efforts, we discovered that in 2016 Draft Code of Practice for Boarding Facilities, created by industry experts, and was shelved by the previous government. In 2018, NT had the chance to be the first jurisdiction in Australia to formally recognise animals as sentient beings (living being), but that opportunity was declined. Both these are missed opportunities. We will continue to ask the important question of why this happened.
Please continue to share with your family, friends and on your social networks. We only have 12 days to go before our petition closes. The more signatures we can receive will show that pet guardians agree that there needs to be urgent and positive change. Currently we have 1153 verified signatures and growing!
Thank you once again for standing with us. Together we can all make “Evie’s Bark” be the loudest and most impactful voice.
We have a saying at Team Evie, we will always continue with our Evie's Bark mission and awareness ith " One Small Paw Print at Time ".
Regards
Evies Bark Team
