The Issue
March 12 Declaration is the product of island wide multi-stakeholder consultation on what can be done to transform the political culture of Sri Lanka. On 12th March 2015, at BMICH, by signing the Declaration, all political parties agreed to adhere to the 8 basic principles proposed by the Declaration. Now, its the time for call for action. We, by signing the March 12 Declaration and joining the March 12 Movement, urge all the political parties in Sri Lanka to adhere to following 8 basic principles when selecting and nominating their candidates for the forthcoming Parliamentary Elections;
ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සියලු දේශපාලන පක්ෂ මාර්තු 12 ප්රඥප්තියට තම එකඟතාවය පළ කර අත්සන් තබා ඇත. දැන් ඒ පොරොන්දුව ඉටු කරවා ගැනීමේ කාලයයි.. මාර්තු 12 ව්යාපාරයේ කොටස්කරුවන් වන අපි, පිරිසිදු දේශපාලන සංස්කෘතියක් හා පිරිසිදු පාර්ලිමේන්තුවක් උදෙසා, මෙලෙස මාර්තු 12 ප්රඥප්තියට අත්සන් තැබීම තුලින්, එළඹෙන පාර්ලිමේන්තු මහ මැතිවරණයට සියලු දේශපාලන පක්ෂ ඉදිරිපත් කරන අපේක්ෂකයින් පහත දැක්වෙන ගුණාංගයන්ගෙන් යුක්ත විය යුතු බවට බල කරන්නෙමු.
மார்ச் 12 பிரகடனம் என்பது, இலங்கையின் அரசியல் கலாச்சாரத்தை மாற்ற நாடளாவிய பல பங்குதாரர்களின் ஆலோசனையின் விளைவாகும். அனைத்து அரசியல் கட்சிகளும் எதிர் வரும் பாராளுமன்ற தேர்தலில் தனது வேட்பாளரை நிறுத்தும் போது பிரகடனத்தின் மூலம் முன் மொழிய பட்ட 8 அடிப்படை கொள்கைகளை நடைமுறை படுத்த ஏற்றுக்கொண்டுள்ளனர். இத்தருணம், இந்நடவடிக்கைக்கு அழைப்பு விடும் நேரம்.
Such candidates;
1. Should not be a criminal. අපරාධකරුවකු නොවිය යුතුය. குற்றவாளியாக இல்லாதிருத்தல்.
2. Free of bribery and corruption. අල්ලස හා දූෂනයෙන් තොර විය යුතුය. இலஞ்சம் மற்றும் ஊழலில் தொடர்பற்று இருத்தல்.
3. Free of anti-social trades සමාජ විරෝධී ව්යාපාරයන්ගෙන් තොර විය යුතුය. சமூக விரோத வர்த்தகத்தில் தொடர்பற்று இருத்தல்.
4. Environment friendly. පරිසර හිතකාමී විය යුතුය. சுற்றாடல் நலன் விரும்பியாக இருத்தல்
5. Not abusing authority. බලය අවභාවිතා නොකරන අයෙක් විය යුතුය. அதிகாரத்தை துஷ்பிரயோகம் செய்யாத ஒருவராக இருத்தல்.
6. Free of abusive financial contracts. අයුතු මූල්ය ගිවිසුම් වලින් තොර අයෙක් විය යුතුය. தவறான நிதிய ஒப்பந்தங்களில் ஈடுபட்ட ஒருவராக இராதிருத்தல்.
7. Close to their electors. ඡන්දදායකයන්ට සමීප අයෙක් විය යුතුය. வாக்காளர்களுக்கு சமீபமான ஒருவராக இருத்தல்.
8. Adequate opportunities for women and youth. ප්රමාණවත් කාන්තා හා තරුණ නියෝජනයක් සැලසිය යුතුය. பெண் மற்றும் இளம் பிரதிநிதிகளுக்கு போதிய வாய்ப்பு வழங்கல் வேண்டும்.
