Join the OUSD Disability Justice Community at Tonight’s School Board Meeting to Speak Out Against the Removal of Disabled Students from their Schools
WHEN: TONIGHT, Wednesday, May 24th
WHERE: Great Room of La Escuelita Elementary School, 1050 2nd Ave, Oakland
We invite all families, students, staff, and community members to attend tonight’s May 24th School Board Meeting IN PERSON. We will begin to gather in the back of the Great Room at 6:30 pm. Our first opportunity to speak should come up some time between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
Join us IN PERSON to call on OUSD to stop expelling disabled students from their schools to close their Special Education programs.
To ensure the reversal of the forced removals planned for 2023-24, we call on the Board to schedule a Special Meeting by May 31st so that they can vote on adoption of the Resolution to Promote School Stability and Belonging for Disabled Students in OUSD.
The resolution WAS NOT placed on the agenda for this meeting as we expected it would be.
We will speak after the Superintendent’s Report due to its focus on enrollment, after the hearing for the Special Education (SELPA) Annual Service Plan and Annual Budget Plan, and during Public Comments on Non-Agenda Items.
If you cannot arrive in person, you can join the meeting via Zoom to make public comments.
