Infantino is ignoring the criticism. Let's make that impossible!

Thank you all. Since this petition started, the movement for FIFA accountability has grown on every front:

• 72 Members of the European Parliament have written to the presidents of all 27 EU football associations demanding an investigation.
• The human rights organisation FairSquare has filed an official complaint with the International Olympic Committee, alleging five breaches of the IOC's political neutrality rules and the IOC President has publicly said they would look into it.
• Reports reveal the decision to lift Balogun's ban was taken by a single official, alone. Something that had never happened in any published FIFA disciplinary case before.

Now the national football associations must respond and that is where YOU come in.

Please take five minutes and send a short email to your country's football association. Write in your own language. A message from a local fan carries the most weight, but include this official passage from the MEPs' public letter in English, so every association receives the same recognisable demand:

"I would like to reiterate the call from 72 Members of the European Parliament and urge you to call for an investigation into whether FIFA President Gianni Infantino was involved in the decision to suspend the automatic one-match suspension imposed following the red card issued to US men's national team player Folarin Balogun, and if pressure from the US Administration was a factor in the decision. Member associations have an important role to play in ensuring that rules are upheld and that those who break them are held accountable."

Every association that hears this from its own fans, on top of Parliament and the IOC complaint, finds it harder to stay silent.

Two more things:
1. Share the petition with three people today. That is how we grow.
2. The semifinals are today and the final is tomorrow. Whenever Infantino appears on that stage, the world will be watching, and talking. Post the petition wherever that conversation happens.

The rules of the game must apply to everyone. Thank you for being part of this.

Danke euch allen. Seit dem Start dieser Petition ist die Bewegung für Verantwortlichkeit bei der FIFA an allen Fronten gewachsen:

• 72 Abgeordnete des Europäischen Parlaments haben an die Präsidenten aller 27 EU-Fußballverbände geschrieben und eine Untersuchung gefordert.
• Die Menschenrechtsorganisation FairSquare hat offiziell Beschwerde beim Internationalen Olympischen Komitee eingereicht wegen fünf Verstößen gegen die IOC-Regeln zur politischen Neutralität. Die IOC-Präsidentin hat öffentlich erklärt, man werde sich die Sache ansehen.
• Berichten zufolge wurde die Aufhebung von Baloguns Sperre von einem einzigen Funktionär im Alleingang entschieden. das gab es in keinem veröffentlichten FIFA-Disziplinarfall zuvor.

Jetzt müssen die nationalen Verbände reagieren, und genau da kommt IHR ins Spiel.

Nehmt euch fünf Minuten und schreibt eine kurze E-Mail an euren Fußballverband (ÖFB, DFB, SFV …). Ihr könnt diese Vorlage verwenden. Wichtig: Die englische Passage aus dem offiziellen MEP-Brief mitschicken, damit bei jedem Verband dieselbe wiedererkennbare Forderung ankommt:

"Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

ich schließe mich dem Aufruf von 72 Abgeordneten des Europäischen Parlaments an und fordere Sie auf, eine Untersuchung darüber zu verlangen, ob FIFA-Präsident Gianni Infantino an der Entscheidung beteiligt war, die automatische Ein-Spiel-Sperre nach der Roten Karte gegen US-Nationalspieler Folarin Balogun auszusetzen, und ob Druck der US-Regierung dabei eine Rolle spielte. Die Mitgliedsverbände tragen eine wichtige Verantwortung dafür, dass Regeln eingehalten werden und Regelbrüche Konsequenzen haben.

Im Original aus dem Brief der EU-Abgeordneten: 'I would like to reiterate the call from 72 Members of the European Parliament and urge you to call for an investigation into whether FIFA President Gianni Infantino was involved in the decision to suspend the automatic one-match suspension imposed following the red card issued to US men's national team player Folarin Balogun, and if pressure from the US Administration was a factor in the decision. Jeder Verband, der das zusätzlich zum Parlamentsbrief und zur IOC-Beschwerde auch noch von den eigenen Fans hört, kann schwerer schweigen.

Zwei Dinge noch:
1. Teilt die Petition heute mit drei Leuten. So wachsen wir.
2. Heute ist Halbfinale, morgen das Finale. Wann immer Infantino auf der Bühne steht, schaut die Welt zu, und redet. Postet die Petition überall dort, wo diese Themen präsent sind.
