In light of recent revelations, we renew our call for the immediate removal or resignation of Minister Clint Camilleri. New information raises additional serious concerns about conflicts of interest and alleged misuse of power.
Conflict of Interest in Transport Malta:
Investigative reports indicate that Minister Clint Camilleri's wife, while holding a managerial position and effectively acting as the head of Gozo's Transport Malta, maintained her private legal practice. This overlap of roles raises serious concerns about ethical standards and accountability in public service, potentially compromising the integrity of our institutions.
Allegations of Bribery in Mgarr Marina:
Allegations have surfaced regarding irregularities in the allocation of berths at the Mgarr Marina in Gozo. Such claims highlight the pressing need for immediate action to ensure public resources are managed fairly and responsibly.
These incidents are part of a troubling pattern of governance that erodes public trust, undermines democratic principles, and tarnishes Malta's international reputation. The continued presence of Minister Camilleri in office amidst these allegations signals a disregard for ethical governance and accountability.
We, the undersigned, demand:
- The immediate resignation or removal of Clint Camilleri from his ministerial positions.
- A full, transparent investigation into the reported conflicts of interest and allegations of bribery.
- Stronger mechanisms to prevent and address conflicts of interest within public institutions.
- Strict enforcement of anti-corruption measures to restore public trust in governance.
It is only through decisive action that the government can begin to rebuild public confidence in its institutions. We urge the Prime Minister, whose response has thus far lacked decisiveness, and the relevant authorities to take immediate action in the interest of justice, transparency, and good governance.
Let us unite to oppose the misuse and abuse of public office and demand a government that genuinely serves the interests of the people.
