The Issue

In the Midlands region of South Africa, the Democratic Alliance (DA) party is experiencing delays and disruptions that threaten its effectiveness and cohesion. According to the DA’s own constitution, it is mandatory for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be convened timely in order to elect a proper constituency structure that can ensure smooth operations and stable leadership. Unfortunately, this is not happening, and as members and stakeholders of the DA Midlands, we are gravely concerned about the implications.

The absence of a structured leadership process not only contravenes our party’s constitution but also leaves our region without the vital leadership and strategic guidance needed to tackle pressing political and socio-economic challenges. Only through electing competent and dedicated leaders can we ensure that the DA Midlands continues to represent our community's needs effectively and uphold democratic values.

I am personally invested in this cause because I believe in the power of transparent and democratic processes, as outlined in our party’s charter, to bring about meaningful change. Failure to convene the AGM perpetuates uncertainty and undermines our democratic principles. It prevents us from effectively mobilizing and strategizing, which could significantly affect our ability to serve our constituents effectively.

We require immediate action to uphold our commitment to fair governance and accountability. By expediting the AGM, we can hold elections that will empower a duly elected leadership to guide the DA Midlands. This is not just about following procedural requirements; it’s about securing our future and ensuring our political movement remains strong and focused.

We appeal to the relevant authorities within the DA to arrange for the AGM of the DA Midlands to take place without further delay. Let's uphold the integrity of our organisation and fortify the democratic process within our ranks.

Please sign this petition to show your support for a timely AGM, enabling us to elect leaders who are both accountable and responsive to our community's needs.
