Dearest Friends and Supporters-- Today we recieved news that the Judicial Performance comittee cleared Aaron Persky of all misconduct in the Brock Turner case. On Monday, In their 12 page statement they ruled that Persky was cleared of any judicial misconduct related to: -lawfulness of the sentence handed down -bias toward gender or race or socio-economic status -refusing to take sexual violence seriously -not disclosing his past student athelete career at Stanford A link to the 12 page report can be found in the article below. Frankly this should not come as a surprise as victim blaming is institutionalized into our justice system. Our entire system is toxic and harmful to victims and demeans them in the most unimaginable ways, and, on all levels the system protects its own. From the prosecuting attorney not having any responsibility to the victim besides obtaining a guilty verdict to the victim blaming lines of questioning that are allowed in courtrooms daily the system fails 100% of sexual assault victims, even when their rapist is found guilty.
