Governor Newsom Signs AB1928 into California State Law!

On August 27th, 2026, AB1928, the Campus Counsel and Care Act, was signed into law by Governor Newsom! Survivors should never have to choose between emotional support and legal advice. Now, over 2 million students in California have the right to both a support person and an advisor throughout all stages of the Title IX grievance process. A huge thank you to Assembly Member Mike Fong, coauthor Senator Cortese, our incredible cosponsor Equal Rights Advocates, and everyone who signed on and supported the advocacy throughout the past year!
