Once again, I want to thank everyone for supporting this petition.  I want to give you an update with what’s happening regarding this issue.  I have been taking insulin for 46 years and have been lucky to have health insurance.  Some people do not, they ration insulin and are dying.

Recently several states, Colorado, Illinois and others have passed legislation to cap the co-pays of insulin at $100.00 per month.  These states are mandating the Health Insurance companies cap their co-pays at $100.00.  The states are not addressing the real issue: Insulin manufactures are selling insulin at un reasonable prices.  While the manufactures sell insulin at 5,000 percent profit to individuals, they are selling insulin to health plans at 2,000 percent profit.

 These bills do not address diabetics who need insulin that have no health insurance.  They are putting a Band Aid on a wound that needs stiches.  In addition to you encouraging your friends and families to support this petition, please call upon your federal government representatives to take action now regarding the high price of insulin.  .Below is a link to find your Congressional representatives.  Thank you!  Brian Ballard
