Dear friends: As Hurricane Irma is adding vigorously to the catastrophes caused by Hurricane Harvey and aiming towards Florida with a great likelihood of destroying major portions of its infrastructure and environment, we are asking where is the Climate Change Action leadership. Have you heard anything like demanding Climate Change Major Disaster Declarations (or Emergencies) right now? We have not and there is almost certainty that we have not heard about them because they do not exist. Bill Mckibben is silent; Doctor James Hansen is silent; Al Gore is talking about solutions to go green and timidly mentioning that the hurricanes are stronger because of Climate Change; NRDC, the Sierra Club, Environmental Defense Fund, etc. are still disgusted with Donald Trump for leaving the Paris agreement and asking for donations to help the victims of Harvey, and Naomi Klein (See link) is making some good socio-economic analysis of the hurricanes and Climate Change but is not calling for any specific massive action. In the meantime, they are all asking for donations for their organizations (That seems to be the main goal of these organizations). Climate Change Action is not neat anymore. It is time for a World War II-type mobilization right now, as some of the environmental organizations have proposed but without offering a real way to achieve that mobilization. Let's do everything we can to WAKE PEOPLE UP: the flood, the hurricane, the drought, the tornado, etc. are coming to a location near you.
