Dear friends: The enclosed article highlights how lost our governments (In this case, the U. S. A. government) are regarding tackling Climate Change and protecting the communities already experiencing high level Climate Change-related destruction. To decide on how to help a community in Alaska and another one in Louisiana move to higher ground (because of rising sea levels) the U. S. federal government had the bright idea of creating The National Disaster Resilience Competition which resulted in funding for the move of the Louisiana community and no funding for the Alaska community. Ridiculous and dangerous situations like the one discussed in this article show how important it is to DEMAND our governments to assume a proactive role by declaring Climate Change itself a DISASTER in order to commit all their resources to PREVENT more catastrophes and FULLY AID the victims of the catastrophes already unfolding. By sharing this petition with your family, friends, neighbors and government officials, and spreading this strategy by writing letters to the editor, etc., you are literally helping to "save the Earth".
