Wildlife Corridors should be placed in White Rock, Cairns

Wildlife Corridors should be placed in White Rock, Cairns
The issue
White Rock is known to be the home of many Agile Wallabies and other native animals. As Development is soon to take place, wildlife corridors should be essential in the developers' pro-active plan. The Cairns Council should work with developers and take on the responsibility of building wildlife corridors to ensure safe passage either under or possibly over roads. Corridors should be placed throughout the site BEFORE development begins. Cairns City does not want to see a repeat of unfortunate events that occurred in the Northern Beaches (specifically, Trinity Beach).
By signing this petition, you are asking the Cairns Council to help prevent the death of native animals and also reduce motorist collisions. On top of wildlife corridors, land should be set aside for the Agile Wallabies BEFORE development begins. A Native Animal Reserve would promote the "nature-friendly" culture of White Rock, increase tourism and provide a safe environment for the animals to live. Humans and wildlife need to learn to coexist with each other and White Rock could be a prime example.
