SCR 193 (Emperor Norton Tunnel) Passes the Senate, 39–0
Hello, there.
This gratifying vote took place in Sacramento about an hour ago.
It is the second of 4 passing votes required in order to accomplish this timely naming.
So — at least on paper — we are halfway there!
Still necessary are votes by the Assembly Transportation Committee and the Assembly floor.
There remains a question as to whether the Assembly will schedule these votes in time to be taken by the close of the legislative session on August 31.

Dear Speaker Rivas and Assemblymember Wilson,
I am writing to express my strong support for SCR 193 that would designate the Bay Bridge tunnel through Yerba Buena Island as the "Emperor Norton Tunnel" — and that would add this tribute on the eve of the 90th anniversary of the bridge this coming November.
Following the recent 13–0 passage by the Senate Transportation Committee and 39–0 passage by the full Senate, I recognize that SCR 193 will be on a tight timeline to receive votes from the Assembly Transportation Committee and the full Assembly by the close of the legislative session on August 31.
I urge you both to please schedule timely votes on SCR 193 so as to facilitate the passage of this resolution in the current session.
