Skate Park for Byron Bay

Byron Bay Labor is calling on Council to provide funding to build a skate park in Byron Bay. For too long, local young people have not had access to a quality facility. The closest skate park is located in Suffolk Park, and is considered by many to be well below average.
Properly funded, a skate park would be not only be used for skating, but designed in a way that it is a piece of artwork for the community. This proud community asset, thoughtfully designed, will make an important addition to the Byron Bay community. This idea fits in perfectly with the Byron Bay Masterplan adopted by Council and should be given high priority.
With rate rises and paid parking, it’s only fair that locals, and especially young locals, benefit positively in a town that is so often over-run by tourists.
After decades of talk, it’s time to build a skate park in Byron Bay!
