https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/articles/elio-box-office-flop-why-151314482.htmlIn a move that everyone anticipated, except for those within Disney or Pixar, Elio, despite undergoing a change in directors, numerous production rewrites, and script modifications, has not performed well at the box office. It follows the trend set by Lightyear and other recent Pixar films that have been less than impressive. The core issue lies in the studio's inability to create and deliver an original film without being constrained by strange standards and expectations that have tarnished recent Disney and Pixar releases. This has led many to question whether Pixar can find alternatives to sequels for generating revenue to recover their losses. One potential solution that comes to mind is the show they attempted to keep under wraps, alongside the reality that they have limited options as they confront severe financial and economic repercussions if they continue on their current trajectory. If we must look to the past, let it be for something that most would agree is genuinely desired, especially when compared to a film that even Pixar's core audience of children found unengaging. In this context, I believe now is the time to advocate for the series that marked the first collaboration between Disney Television Animation and Pixar, especially since the likelihood of a new or original science fiction film being produced is slim. It seems more probable that Disney will seek to recover losses through a show that has been requested by fans for many years, rather than through a film that has failed to generate profits.
