So much has happened in the way of this community's buses and roads. Bentley have appealed the planned withdrawal of free buses for children to get to their catchment secondary school of East Bergholt and won! The hour journey on foot was deemed as unsafe when needing to cross a 60mph road. Great news for those in Bentley but it highlights again the need for a change in law where 1 hours walk each way is presently seen as fine and dandy. In other news; Stutton's newly proposed housing development has had a letter from Suffolk Council's development policy dept stating they would like to see a contribution of funds to ensure a safe route to the catchment secondary school of Holbrook Academy as it is unsafe at present. I wrote to them, copying others in 'power' in telling him how pleased I was that it is now deemed unsafe and got the response that he had made a mistake. Unfortunate, as my daughter came home this week with 2 tales of near misses she had on her bike, one of which involved a bus travelling to one of the public schools who didn't give her enough room. Also, in news, there are 2 new planned withdrawal of public bus services that effects Shotley and Tattingstone villages and other villages en route to Ipswich. More need for signing and sharing this petition. This is not just for the community closest to me but for the country as a whole, share it everywhere you can, buses are being culled in all rural communities and I bet you have friends and family in other affected parts
