Stop the Closure of the Prestwich and Bury Walk In Centres

The Issue

As part of a review into Urgent Care services across the Borough, Bury's CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) has formally proposed to shut our two Walk In Centres, one in Prestwich and the other in Bury. Their initial plan was to shut both on 31st March 2017 but after pressure from our campaign this was changed to Prestwich being closed at the end of September 2017 and Bury in June 2017.

However, we kept up the campaign and managed to extend these again, with the Walk-In Centres now remaining open until at least March 2018.

The CCG claim these closures will save around £800,000.

These proposals are part of a wider attempt to make cuts in the NHS budget of £22 Billion, which have been instigated by the Conservative Government, as reported by the BBC - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-37186455

These two local centres currently have 67,752 attendances a year between them and serve a wide range of people who need support quickly and especially, outside of usual working hours.

We are calling on the Government to give Bury CCG enough money to keep these vital services open.
