The issue lies with the errant balls that are struck by the cricketeers and the consequent impact on public users of the park and to adjacent private property owners. Yes cricket has been in Canada over 100 years, however, based on the constraints in Central Park, the outfield and buffer zone are within close proximity to private property and does not allow the safe passage for park visitors around the area (even with changes to the angle of the cricket pitch).
