Hi All,

WA Greens are giving support to our quest for a homeless shelter in Bunbury. They know housing is a human right and recognise the importance of having a roof over one’s head.

While we have had the petition accepted by Local Government, we are still working towards having the 2500 signatures brought to the attention of the State Parliament.

Note: strict rules prevented us from accessing the State e-petition portal leading up to the election. Yet, we pressed on knowing so many were concerned about the plight of homeless people during this period.

Recently and to get a foot in the door, we uploaded a small e-petition.

On Tuesday 9th September, Hon Tim Clifford MLC presented that e-petition from 21 petitioners requesting the Legislative Council to urge the Government to grant the community’s request to deliver immediate relief to homeless people and establish a homeless shelter in Bunbury. (Tabled Paper 480).

On 17th September, Jess Beckerling MLC also made a Members Statement about the need for a shelter in Bunbury.

We will keep you updated on developments. 

And, for sure, our shared efforts will develop. The importance of addressing the immediate needs of homeless people in shelter is being raised with greater frequency across our State.
