Key Updates about the Aquatic Center:
- Programming: Under development by District Educational Services
- Usage: All four high school swim & water polo teams may have to share this first pool while we work on plans for a second pool in the north portion of the District
- Rentals: Managed through the District's Facilitron platform
- Staffing: The pool will be overseen by 1 FTE Aquatics & Facility Manager, plus a contract pool technician
- Facilities: The new Aquatics Center will have interior and exterior bathrooms and a concession/snack stand that will be shared with other sports and available for teams to utilize for on-site concessions for home games and events.
Looking Ahead: 2028 Bond Discussion
As part of future district planning, the District is beginning early discussions around a 2028 bond, which includes a second pool for the North. The topic will be addressed at the upcoming Facilities Workshop on Thursday, September 25. If you want to support the inclusion of the second pool site in our District, please show up and speak up. This meeting is not yet on the District website.
Fundraising Update
To continue building support and programming for the new Aquatics Center:
- We will be launching a campaign for sponsors at two levels:
- $10,000+ naming options for major equipment and areas at the facility
- $5,000+
- We are still negotiating a 501c3 to partner in raising funds
- There will be an option for families in the northern region to contribute/earmark donations specifically toward the planned second pool
New Committee Members:
We are actively recruiting for committee members, especially from CCA and TPHS. No experience needed, just a passion for aquatics. Respond email sandieguitopools@gmail.com if you would like to join our next meeting or talk with us at the tour.
We will share fundraising materials at the tour, and we welcome your help in spreading the word. Thank you again for your commitment to supporting aquatics in our District. We look forward to sharing more soon – and hope to see many of you on the tours!
Warm regards,
The SDUHSD Parent Aquatic Committee
