Have your say: Building a safer Wellington St Cycling Corridor before 9am Monday 13th October

Share your thoughts on the options Yarra City Council have developed for Wellington Street, north of Johnston Street to Queens Parade.

Around 2,000 people travel on Wellington Street by bike every day! Council is making walking, riding bikes and using scooters safer and more accessible for people of all ages and abilities. As part of this plan, they are completing the Wellington Street Strategic Cycling Corridor that has been more than ten years in the making.

We strongly suggest option 1 (bicycle street) for both Collingwood and Clifton Hill stages as:

  • Safer for Cycling
  • Safer for Walking
  • More trees
  • More breathable air
  • Reduced car traffic on local streets

If approved by council, it will be similar to Canning St in Carlton, a cycling route that is safe, peaceful, enjoyable and effective. In fact, Canning St was voted the safest street to cycle on in Melbourne in the 2023 BikeSpot Survey.

It's important to get your feedback to the council in support of a Wellington St upgrade. Visit Your Say Yarra to have your say today.
