A meeting was held with the Shire of Wanneroo at the Kingsway Sporting Complex. Early days yet but after three months we finally have some movement in the right direction. This email was sent to the Shire afterwards and summarizes discussions that took place. Hi Shane, Ian Thanks to you both for meeting me on Friday. I feel that the time was productive and useful. To summarize our conversation we covered these main points: 1. A concept plan for the Kingsway Sporting Complex exists; 2. The concept plan includes provisions for the installation of public fitness equipment in the complex; 3. Some public consultation has already been undertaken; 4. A final decision on the type or layout of public fitness equipment has not been made or signed off; 5. Budgetary considerations are still being worked out; 6. Further public consultation is deemed valuable and public needs shall be widely gauged; 7. The Perth Calisthenics Community presents a potential resource of knowledge and ideas for the development of a facility at Kingsway Sporting Complex which caters for the sport of Calisthenics-Street Workout; 8. The recognition that Calisthenics-Street Workout is a growing trend in the community and presents an opportunity for the shire to consider options to cater for the sport. I have reached out to the Perth Calisthenics Community through their social media page and have received a lot of positive response from group members. Moving forward we will seek to form a group to liaise directly with the Shire on opportunities to expand on these ideas. I have also received a response from individuals associated with the supply and installation of a wide variety of Calisthenics-Street Workout set up options. The two outlets which have expressed an interest is Proludic and Kenguru.
