Restore the Central Terminal in Buffalo, NY as a multimodal transportation hub

Restore the Central Terminal in Buffalo, NY as a multimodal transportation hub
The Issue
Goals:
1. Let's restore the Central Terminal in Buffalo, NY as an intermodal transportation hub, including train service, light rail, bus, car sharing, airport connection, with room for expansion not only for additional train capacity, but for new transportation technology (i.e. Hyperloop), with the aim of making Central Terminal the Gateway to Buffalo.
2. The Central Terminal should also be a mixed use facility including restaurants, hotel, office space, internet cafe, marketplace, salon/barber, etc.
3. The Central Terminal should also be used as a catalyst for economic development on the east side of Buffalo, integrating seamlessly with the surrounding community and offering workforce development and job opportunities.
4. The Central Terminal should be redeveloped in such a way to embrace it's history, fully restoring historical architectural features and materials to it's true Art Deco roots.
Why should we tackle such an ambitious project?
1. Buffalo is in desperate need of a new train station - http://buffalonews.com/2016/09/30/buffalo-needs-a-modern-train-station-in-place-of-its-obsolete-downtown-depot/
2. A rare, beautiful Art Deco train station sits unused right in the city of Buffalo with train tracks included! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_Central_Terminal
3. Private developers are itching to invest some serious money in Central Terminal and capitalize on the Buffalo Renaissance - http://buffalonews.com/2016/06/25/central-terminal-is-given-a-temporary-face-lift-thanks-to-marshall-crew/
4. Not only is rail transportation environmentally friendly, it also promotes economic development, which is especially needed in Buffalo's east side - http://www.apta.com/resources/reportsandpublications/Documents/HSRPub_final.pdf
5. The Central Terminal location in particular is ideal for a new train station, as it is the only location in Buffalo that can be a true intermodal transportation hub, and serve as an iconic destination with opportunity for spin-off economic development.
Why do I care about this issue?
I am not normally someone that is usually active in civic causes, much less ones campaigned for on the internet. However, I live in Buffalo, NY and would like to see the development and restoration of the city continue. It is not often that the stars align to provide a once in a lifetime opportunity with benefits that are so multi-faceted. Not only are we getting better public transportation and rail service, but we also see positive environmental impacts, excellent private investment opportunities, development in an inner city that has seen better days, and a cultural legacy for generations to come. LETS GET THIS DONE!!!
Thank you so much for reading.
