On Friday, May 24, FPMT International Office released an update about the situation: https://fpmt.org/fpmt/announcements/updates-regarding-dagri-rinpoche/
There was no mention of arranging an investigation, but it contained several positive, hopeful points, for example:
International Office acknowledges the very real suffering experienced by the women who have made allegations of misconduct by Dagri Rinpoche, and understand how difficult it is to speak out publically about this. We appreciate their courage in speaking out.
And:
While we await the results of the Indian police investigation, we are continuing a correspondence with Jakaira Perez Valdivia. We are also seeking professional assistance, and committed to continue to improve our current policies and procedures.
Lama Zopa Rinpoche has given further advice for students of Dagri Rinpoche: https://fpmt.org/lama-zopa-rinpoche-news-and-advice/advice-from-lama-zopa-rinpoche/lama-zopa-rinpoches-additional-advice-to-students-of-dagri-rinpoche-2/
One comment that can give us hope is the following:
"Even though there is need for laws in a country and vinaya rules in a monastery, it is your own practice to subdue your mind.”
Of course, it is important to subdue our minds; we completely agree with that. But here he acknowledges the need for laws in countries and rules in monasteries (and the FPMT has an ethical policy). Those laws and rules contain measures for what should be done in case someone breaks them, and an investigation is needed in order to determine whether or not someone has broken any law or monastic rule. Therefore, it should follow that he would agree to have an investigation!
And in fact, he does talk about an investigation, but asks whether it should be into this life, from childhood, or into past lives? No one has ever said it needs to go so far back. Dagri Rinpoche has been teaching in FPMT centers for about 15 years, and most of the allegations we know of are from 10-12 years ago. That should be sufficient.
