St. Laurentius - Sacred Space too Precious to Lose

On behalf of The Faithful Laurentians, I am pleased to announce the launching of our website and online fundraising effort for the full preservation of the beloved Fishtown landmark, St. Laurentius Church. Places of worship are increasingly endangered, demolished to make way for development, or in this case the interiors slated to be irreparably damaged for a residential multi-family conversion. Faithful Laurentians board member Jeanne Murphy Curtis writes, "St. Laurentius tells a very important story of a deeply faithful and strong Polish Catholic immigrant community, but the story lies in its wholeness, not its parts. The exterior, while historically significant, is merely the cover, binding and protecting the precious story within. The interior tells the story. The interior walls and ceilings of St. Laurentius Church are the pages on which the powerful and deeply rich story of a beautiful Polish-Catholic immigrant population is written - a group who carried with them their stories, traditions, language, as well as their strong, unwavering faith." Please join us in our fundraising capital campaign, sign up for our newsletter and help us save this landmark for the next generations --thank you! http://faithfullaurentians.org
