Extend Your Support To Save Citizens Advice Broxbourne

Thank you to all of you who have shown your support in signing our petition to save Citizens Advice Broxbourne and especially in adding your comments as to why. Now, we would be grateful if you could extend your support by asking colleagues, neighbours, friends and family to sign up too! People who come to us seeking help and advice around problems such as benefits, housing and debt do so because there is no-where else to go. They do not choose to be in this position and it’s often caused through events out of their control. • Waiting times for people on income related benefits such as Jobseekers Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance for those who are sick has been extended from 13 to 39 weeks. This is likely to lead to many more mortgage possessions. • The family element of housing benefit, for those in rented accommodation, has stopped for new claimants, thus reducing the amount of housing benefits to those with low incomes. • The Bedroom Tax and the Welfare Cap that has been lowered again meaning many people will have their housing benefit cut, so the threat of homelessness will grow. Broxbourne Borough Council has made clear that the loss of funding will mean the likely closure of the Bureau - we can't let that happen.
