People v. James Davis - Oral Argument (March 2021)

Watch: Our new video on James’ appeal

Read more about today’s filing from the New York Daily News (10/1/20)

James Davis is a Brooklyn man who has spent the last 16 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.  Last summer, his attorneys at The Legal Aid Society brought seven witnesses to court for a hearing in an effort to overturn his conviction.  Despite the fact that the witnesses testified that James was not at the party when the shooting occurred, did not fit the description of the shooter, and was framed by a jealous former girlfriend, the hearing court denied his motion. Now James and The Legal Aid Society are appealing that decision in the New York State Appellate Division.  This is the last chance James has to overturn his wrongful conviction and gain his freedom.  We need your support!  We are asking the Brooklyn District Attorney, Eric Gonzalez, to join James in his effort to overturn his wrongful conviction.  Please take a moment to watch this short video and learn more about James Davis's case, and listen to Wrongful Conviction with Jason Flom, a podcast episode about James Davis. Then sign this petition urging Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez to join the Legal Aid Society in asking the Court to overturn James’s conviction.
