Make Barbie Princess and the Pauper into a Stage Production

Make Barbie Princess and the Pauper into a Stage Production
The Issue
Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper, despite being released 15 years ago, remains as a classic in the memories of many. With it holding the position as the first musical in the Barbie Cinematic Universe, the film sets the bar high for all other movies that came out afterwards, and it’s safe to say that no Barbie movie has surpassed what Princess and the Pauper brought to the table.
Many of the songs presented in the film already carry the same lyrical intelligence and musical beauty that Broadway productions possess. Certain scenes, such as when Erika and Anneliese express their desire to be someplace else, and the scene when they finally meet, are already adapted enough for the stage. The choreography, the character’s mannerisms and tones, it’s all similar to musicals that theater-lovers are interested in today.
This movie not only forced my mind to heavily think about and compare the characters and songs from the film to characters and songs from stage musicals, but it impacted me greatly. As children and as adults, viewers have nothing but good reviews for Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper
If this film was turned into a musical and the songs were revived, more people will be introduced into the greatness that this movie has always held.
