Being PRESENT and causing RIPPLES!!!

Good Morning everyone, This weekend David and I attended a retreat through our church. It was called "The Gift of Grands". For those of you that don't know us personally, we were blessed March 19th this year, with the birth of our first grandchild, Paisley. She is truly the most amazing gift that we have ever received. At the retreat, we were able to talk about our story. That was centered around the loss of Brittany. We talked about how her death has caused a reverse like ripple effect. It caused us to withdraw into each other, and in doing that...it also caused others to withdraw from us. When our oldest daughter, Lyndsey, told us that she was pregnant last year, we then realized what we had been doing. We had a long talk about how we didn't want to remain closed off. We wanted to be present in our families and friends lives. This is also when we decided to do something...and we wanted to make sure that Brittany had a legacy. We wanted to make sure that her story was told, and we wanted to make sure that no one else suffered the loss that we have all been dealing with since her death. There have been days that I have felt defeated with the small amount of signatures on the petition, but then when I look at the total amount...those small days, don't seem to upset me any longer. Every single signature that we have gathered, every new person that has read Brittany's story, that is another rock that is causing a ripple. For every single person that has signed and shared this petition...thank you. Even if it only has sparked something in just a few people that you know....that is a ripple. Even the smallest rock can cause ripples. But I digress, Paisley has made us realize that this petition is not only for Brittany, it is for Paisley, our future grandchildren, our friends children, and your children. This is something that we feel strongly about. Our children's protection is what is important. How do we, as parents, feel that when we send our children out into the world, be it to school, college, or to work, that they will be safe from harm. We can never be 100% sure that will happen. BUT it is up to us to try to make our world as safe for them as possible. We have to do something...we have to cause ripples for them!! We have to do what we can to ensure that they are safe. We are so very close to our first goal of 10,000. Please help us cause more ripples. Please encourage your friends and families to sign this petition.
