Save This Old Red Telephone Box on Stoke Bridge from Permanent Removal and Help Us Gift It A New Life!

The Issue

The Teapot Project (TTP) in Ipswich who currently stand as the largest food waste reducer in the county, who make a direct impact on the local communities most vulnerable through their ongoing projects and pop-ups, who supply to other crucial local organisations that support vulnerably housed individuals including rough sleepers and youths and/or individuals with addiction, physical and/or mental health challenges are asking for your help today. As part of the ongoing plans to reduce food waste TTP supply perfectly edible food to much needed services and directly to the communities most vulnerable.

TTP recently put in an application to BT to request the transfer of ownership or purchase of a local telephone box. With a vision to spend around £1,500 in restoration and to transform the 'telephone box' into a 'kind box' providing items that locally vulnerable people can collect to make a difference to their life, and use the window insets as sellable advertising panels to claw back the investment cost that will save this little piece of our history. TTP have today been informed that BT plan to remove and destroy the telephone box as they do not feel the investment is worthwhile. We believe that the old red telephone box is a charming part of our history and with the hard work that has gone into the area from local developers and large investments it would be a huge shame to see a local landmark be wasted as a result of vandalism that can be rectified and a lack of vision to safeguard our historic little box. We have offered to take on all the costs to do so and hope that you will support our plea in order to save this small but significant kiosk so we can inject some life and positivity into it. We work very closely with the local college and university and plan to make the renovation a community project that will see a complete transformation. Please help us by signing our petition and sharing it as much as you can both far and wide.

Thanks to all our Teapotters for your unprecedented support. As ever, you keep us going and fighting for what is right.
