Hey guys, I'm really excited to say that we've had a HUGE increase in signatures and have tripled our numbers since this morning! If you haven't already shared the petition on social media then please do, as I'm confident we can get a lot more people behind this.
Also if you haven't seen the video we're running alongside this petition then do check it out and share (it's attached to this update), we've surpassed 300 thousands views now which is brilliant.
The Metro have also run a really positive article on the petition, which can be read here (make sure you vote in the poll!) - http://metro.co.uk/2017/02/15/should-fur-be-banned-from-london-fashion-week-6450491/#mv-a
When asked for a comment by the Metro, the British Fashion Council responded - "The British Fashion Council does not dictate what designers can or cannot design and has no control over their creative process. We actively encourage designers to look at best practice in their business and if they do chose to use fur then we encourage them to make ethical choices."
Of course we know all know that there's no such thing as ethical fur and London Fashion Week needs to understand that fur can never be ethical. Oslo Fashion Week banned fur in 2010 because of anti-fur campaigners and the British Fashion Council has full authority to remove fur from the LFW catwalk in 2017.
In case you haven't seen the previous update and are one of the many people to have signed this petition in the past 12 hours - I'll quickly introduce myself to you. I'm Ed and I'm the co-founder of the animal rights organisation Surge and we're running this petition as part of an on-going campaign to ban fur from London Fashion Week. We'll be protesting all weekend outside the British Fashion Council main show space and we'll keep you updated on how things go down whilst we're there. In the meantime, if you want to find out more about us, you can check out our website and join our mailing list to receive updates about campaigns and events throughout 2017.

Surge also hosts the annual Official Animal Rights March, so if you're passionate about animal rights then save the date for September 2nd, when thousands of us will be marching through London!
