Dear Supporter

Thank you so much for your prompt action, responding to my last update to try and save Beauty and EM from deportation.

To our knowledge, sadly,  Beauty was placed on the Kenya Airways flight and deported as those in touch with her lost contact shortly before the flight departed and haven't heard from her since.

The good news I can share is that EM's booking in the  flight to Nigeria was cancelled so your efforts in lobbying British Airways worked.

Of course it would be far better if British Airways would stop working with the Home Office to deport people all together.

The Home Office have refused to answer two Freedom of Information requests I've sent them despite  being instructed to do so by the  Information Commissioners Office.

This week they have escalated my complaints on both FOIs,  here's an extract of the correspondence I've received;

Your ref: Windrush - 'charter flight mass deportations'

Your information request to the Home Office

Thank you for your correspondence of 25 July 2018 in support of your complaint about the above public authority’s failure to respond to your request for information.

When considering complaints about delayed or failed responses to information requests our priority is to ensure requesters receive a response as quickly as possible where one has not been provided, and to monitor any persistent trends which might indicate that a public authority is routinely failing to respond within the statutory timeframe.

"I have written to the Home Office and instructed them to respond to you within 10 working days from the date of receipt of our letter, that is, by close of business on 28 August 2018.

If no response is provided within that timeframe, a decision notice obliging the Home Office to respond to your request will be issued.

The late response will be recorded and as described will form part of our on-going activity to consider the performance of public authorities and the Freedom of Information Act."

The Home Office have thus far ignored the ICO which is outrageous. It would be good if you were to complain to the Home Office  about their failure to answer questions about deportations. The email address is;

 Freedom of Information  request references are 48170 and 48844.
