Dear Supporter
Thank you so much for signing my petition. I started it just 24 hours ago and the fact that well over 4000 of you have signed it demonstrates just how much people care about this issue.
I have been campaigning against these unjustified deportations for a number of years now and have worked directly with people impacted, forced apart from their families and then finding themselves destitute in a country they don't know and may not have been to for up to sixty years and only as a small child. My organisation is also part of an umbrella of campaigners on these issues which make up the BME Lawyers for Justice group.
Private security guards 'accompany' each person on a flight and they are chained and restrained, uncomfortable and humiliated on top of the trauma they are already experiencing.
I wrote this article for The Guardian newspaper in 2016 about some of the experiences of people deported in this way;
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/sep/08/50-people-snatched-deported-jamaica-uk-immigration
Last week as you know from the text in this petition, Virgin announced they will no longer work with the Home Office to facilitate such flights. You can read more about this in a recent Guardian article which I am quoted in, see attached link.
I also wanted to make you aware of a connected petition I have which is also calling on the Home Office to stop such deportations (link below) but the Home Office have to far refused to answer my Freedom of Information requests and so I have had to complain to the Information Commissioners.

It is quite right therefore, that we put pressure on the individual airlines that are complicit in this inhumane action.
Thank you so much for signing and I would be ever so grateful if you were to continue to share with your networks.
Many Thanks
Zita
