The BAFTA VR Advisory Group should be entirely based in the UK
The Issue
BAFTA recently announced a new VR Advisory Group - which is excellent news for VR developers who have been working alone for over two years, building up their own community. However, this new group is "spearheaded out of Los Angeles".
This group should be spearheaded from the UK, or at least out of the EU.
UK and EU VR community has always had to shout louder and harder than their USA counterparts for funding, press and opportunities. This is another opportunity that has gone state-side, where local talent has been looked over.
Some of our VR community are BAFTA members themselves, and have not been approached in regards to this opportunity. They are the ones that have been pitching to BAFTA VR, and showing the opportunities of it.
We have incredibly talented developers and producers on this side of the world, who have the experience to lead. BAFTA, being a British institution, should allow local talent to lead.
