Weston-super-Mare is one of the fastest growing towns in the UK with a high number of elderly and vulnerable people and thousands of seasonal visitors. It isn't acceptable that the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is proposing a permanent overnight closure of the A&E department at Weston hospital. This will cause health risks to local families and place added pressures on health workers in the ambulance service and neighbouring hospitals.

We call on the CCG to scrap plans to close the A&E overnight and work with Drs at the hospital, the hospital leadership team and local people to reopen the A&E 24/7.
