Petition updateBring Tiger Stadium Name Back to Fifth Third Park

Final Update on Tiger Stadium Petition + News Pickup

As it turns out, 463 signatures on a petition isn't enough to get a billion-dollar bank to change the name of a stadium.

Maybe 40,000 signatures would. Or 400,000. Who knows.

The harsh reality is that the bank bought the naming rights, and can call it whatever they so choose.

But does that make it right?

  • Is it right to ask locals what they want the name to be, and then name it something else?
  • Is it right to say you’ll honor what this ballpark means to Detroit, and then not?
  • Is it right to use an improper fraction in your name?...

The answer is simply no.

And even though the backlash will be forgotten over the years, you (yes, you) can at least say you took the time to raise your hand and say I don't agree.

Sometimes we have the power to change things.
Other times we don’t.
But it never hurts to try.
