Dear community,

It is with deep sorrow that I share news of another devastating loss.
On April 23rd, 2025, Nakaii Danvers, a 15-year-old boy from Brampton, was tragically murdered. He was not one of our officially reported missing youth — but he was a Black boy in Ontario, taken far too soon, and that alone demands our attention, our outrage, and our love.

Nakaii was a bright, funny, talented young man. He had a smile that lit up rooms, a bond with his siblings built on music and mischief, and dreams we will never get to see fulfilled. He was completing Grade 10. He loved basketball, video games, and his family more than anything.

His mother, Natalie, is now facing the unimaginable — and she needs our support.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help cover funeral costs and allow her family to grieve with dignity.

This is not just a family in mourning. This is our reminder.
That Black boys are being taken from us in so many ways — by violence, by systemic neglect, by silence.

And when they are, too often the headlines use soft language.
“Suspicious death.”
But we know the truth.
We see the patterns.
And we say the names.

We are asking:
📢 If you know anything that could help bring justice in Nakaii’s case, please come forward.
📢 If you are moved by his story, support and share his memorial fundraiser.
📢 If you have a son, a nephew, a little brother — hold them closer tonight. Every day is a gift.

Nakaii deserved to grow old. He deserved joy, safety, and a future.

Let us honour his name.
Let us show up for his mother.
Let us stay loud for all our boys — missing or taken.
We will not forget.

In power,
Shana McCalla
